Chapter 422 Breakup [3]
—Rachel, you like gambling, right?
Indeed, that situation, where Brandon suddenly approached her, totally left her frozen.
And so, she began to think.
\'Do I still like him?\'
\'Is this fluttering feeling in my heart because he\'s single now?\'
Rachel shook her head and dismissed her thoughts.
\'No, why am I even thinking that? He didn\'t even mean anything by it!\'
Brandon had merely told her of a popular casino, after finding out she had the tendency to gamble.
That was it.
But….
\'....How did he know?\'
\'Is he paying attention to me?\'
\'God, what am I thinking!?\'
Again, she shook her thoughts and walked towards the lobby.
Making her way to the exchange counter, Rachel traded a few bills for tokens.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
She\'d been itching to try her hand at a few games since Brandon casually mentioned the casino\'s name to her.
She\'d found herself wondering why he brought it up—was he teasing her?
Giving her a hint?
Or did he simply think she\'d enjoy it?
Brushing aside her musings, she made her way toward the nearest row of slot machines, inserting a token and pulling the lever.
The familiar sounds and flashing lights transported her back to countless games.
Cling— Cling— Cling—
"Ah…."
The first spin was a miss.
Cling— Cling— Cling—
"Hehe."
But the second one rewarded her with a modest win.
About fifty gold coins.
Right, because Rachel was a \'light\' gambler.
Not an addiction at all!
Cling— Cling— Cling—
Before she realized it she settled into the rhythm, losing herself in the thrill of each spin.
She felt a familiar thrill, and by the time she moved on to a game of roulette, she was completely absorbed in the atmosphere.
It was nearly midnight when she finally left, her purse was basically full.
Because she was a light gambler, and totally didn\'t gamble away until she hit it big.
Over the next few days, she found herself back at the casino after her lectures whenever she had free–time.
Each time, she promised herself it was the last, yet she would end up trading her bills for tokens and making her way to a blackjack table or a poker game.
"You again!?"
"Look, it\'s her."
"Ah, shit. I\'m leaving."
Soon enough, the casino staff, even the frequent players began to recognize her.
The receptionist would nod in greeting, the bartender would have her favorite drink ready.
She didn\'t mind becoming a familiar face. In fact, she liked it.
The casino felt like a world she could escape to. She wasn\'t winning much, but she wasn\'t losing badly either.
It was during one of these nights, after she\'d won a decent pot at a game of poker, that she noticed a shift in the atmosphere.
A tall woman with an air of quiet authority entered the casino floor, drawing the attention of staff and patrons alike.
"Huh?"
Rachel\'s heart skipped as she realized who it was.
Lianna.
Her features were breathtakingly otherworldly.
Lianna had been at Brandon\'s Christmas party and again at Evelyn\'s funeral.
This woman was somehow connected to Brandon, but Rachel had no idea how or why.
All she knew was that Lianna was a wealthy and influential figure, in the business class circle—which Rachel was a part of.
Did she like gambling too?
But this was the first time Rachel had seen her….
She watched Lianna as she moved through the room, catching occasional respectful nods from patrons.
Clearly, she wasn\'t just a guest here—she was someone important.
"....?"
Rachel\'s curiosity was piqued.
Could this really be a coincidence?
She\'d only started coming here because of a casual mention from Brandon, yet here was someone he knew, walking through as if she owned the place.
And then it clicked.
Lianna wasn\'t just connected to the casino.
She was in charge of it.
"She owns this place?"
"She does. Do you know the big boss?"
The dealer, who was shuffling the cards in front of her, spoke.
"Ah? Well, yes? Kind of?"
"Wait, really—Ah, she\'s looking this way."
Hearing those words, Rachel turned towards Lianna\'s direction.
"...."
Their eyes met, and a wave of recognition flashed across Lianna\'s features.
"...."
Rachel glanced up just as Lianna\'s gaze locked onto hers.
For a moment, a flicker of recognition crossed Lianna\'s face.
The casino erupted with murmurs as Lianna started making her way towards her.
Tak. Tak—!
The sound of her heels clicking, catching everyone\'s attention.
"...."
Rachel felt her pulse quicken as Lianna stopped beside her table.
"You\'re…. Rachel, right?"
Rachel nodded, trying to match her composure.
"Yes. Uhm…. It\'s… been a while."
Lianna smiled, glanced around, then looked back at Rachel.
"So, you\'ve taken an interest in this place?"
"Y–Yes, I heard it was yours."
Lianna chuckled. "It is. Though I must say, I didn\'t expect the young CEO of Asami Group to show up here."
—Eh!?
The room stilled at her words.
Around them, dealers and players exchanged stunned glances, recognizing Rachel\'s identity.
Whispered exclamations rang out, and a few patrons fixed their attention on Rachel, flabbergasted by the sudden revelation.
Lianna leaned in with a subtle grin.
"Would you like to form a partnership, Miss Rachel Asami?"
"Uh…."
Rachel, still trying to process her words, froze momentarily.
However, as she pondered, she realized it wasn\'t a bad proposal.
This casino clearly made a lot of profits, and if Asami partnered up with Lianna\'s company, then Rachel would get special privileges even VIPs don\'t get.
And no, it wasn\'t her gambling addiction that\'s talking.
"Come, let\'s talk somewhere less distracting."
Lianna motioned for Rachel to follow her to a more private area near the VIP tables.
Rachel, actually considering the proposal, followed Lianna.
Though the sudden proposal took her aback, the Asami group was actually quite influential as well, especially considering her Father, who was gradually snapping out of his amnesia, finally took the mantle once more.
As they settled, Rachel noticed the elevated view over the casino floor. From here, Lianna seemed to observe everything with authority.
"Actually, the staff reported a guest who kept winning. They suspected possible cheating."
Lianna said, an amused smile playing on her lips.
"Imagine my surprise when I came to check myself and found out it was you, Miss Asami."
Rachel let out a nervous chuckle. More so, as she still wasn\'t used to Lianna\'s beauty.
"I was just lucky, haha?"
Lianna leaned back.
"Luck, perhaps. But consistent wins suggest skill, or, maybe even strategy?"
Rachel shifted, trying to keep her composure. She wasn\'t sure if Lianna was just teasing her or genuinely trying to figure her out.
"So," Lianna continued smoothly, "I meant what I said about the partnership. Asami Group is well-regarded, and this casino could certainly benefit from an alliance with such an influential family."
Rachel considered the offer. Despite the casual setting, Lianna\'s approach was undeniably professional. This wasn\'t just a game to her, she meant business.
"What exactly do you have in mind?"
Rachel asked, her curiosity was piqued.
Lianna smiled.
"A unique partnership for VIP clients, offering access to select Asami Group perks, and in return, extending some privileges for Asami members here. It\'s a win-win for both of us."
Rachel raised an eyebrow.
"So, our clients get VIP treatment here, and yours gain access to some of Asami\'s exclusive amenities?"
"Precisely, imagine high-stakes events, private game nights, and networking opportunities within Asami Group venues. With the right collaboration, we\'d draw an elite crowd."
The idea was tempting. The prospect of cross-promotion between Asami and the casino could elevate both brands, not to mention the exclusive access she\'d gain.
No, for everyone.
Totally, not just her.
Rachel nodded her head.
"Alright, I\'m interested. But the final decision rests with my Father. Could you send over the contract details? I\'ll make sure he\'s informed about the proposal."
Lianna\'s lips curled up, the thought of expanding her business empire exciting her.
"Of course."
***
Lianna returned to her condominium suite and opened a bottle of wine, pouring it onto a goblet.
She was completely thrilled with the recent events.
It was as if the Gods were blessing her.
An upcoming partnership with Asami Group had been in her interest for quite a while now after meeting Rachel over two months ago.
And as if her wishes were heard, it was completely served on a platter.
Additionally, her talent agency, VN Entertainment, was progressing quite well too.
And to think Brandon Locke was a fan of one of the groups she was managing!?
For that reason, Lianna put absolute focus on apsea, investing more in the girl group than initially.
"Ah…."
Her cheeks flushed red from the alcohol as she swirled the glass in her hand.
Everything was completely going her way, as if she actually did own the world.
She had established a business relationship with Brandon Locke—the person she had walked egg–shells around on.
Whenever he was around, her heart completely fluttered, skipping a beat.
"He\'s single too…."
It was the greatest thing to have ever happened.
She had heard Brandon Locke and Amelia Constantine had broken up, and the two were practically avoiding each other.
A tiny part of her remembered being careful around him, not wanting to ruin her chances.
But now?
"Ehe~"
She smiled. Out of everything she wanted in this world, it was Brandon Locke, whose soul was filled with dread and sorrow.
"Ah…."
Her power, the [Authority of Lust], had drawn countless men to her.
Because Lianna Venice, the older sister of Lancelott….
….Is the Archbishop of Lust.
She\'d barely needed to lift a finger to charm the men around her, bending them effortlessly to her will.
But Brandon?
For all her beauty and allure, it felt ironic to yearn for something so simple and unforced.
Yet, that was precisely what she craved.
A partner who\'d choose her for who she was, not because of her charm.
Clink.
Lianna set down her glass, her gaze turning serious.
He was completely indifferent, immune to her natural charms, a contrast to the men who eyed her with lust filled in their eyes.
While there was another prospect who fell under these circumstances, Lianna\'s eyes were only for the person who looked like he was about to break any second now.
"Mmh~"
She wanted more than his admiration.
She wanted his genuine affection.
She wanted to break him.
To make him hers.
He—who had exposed and provoked the Archbishops, was slowly falling into her hands.
Lost in thought, she traced her finger along the edge of her glass.
"Slowly, and surely."
She planned on taking her time.

Drip. Drip…!
Sweat dripped from Brandon\'s entire figure after finishing a lecture.
The lecture focused on improving one\'s constitution, which Brandon had been doing during his isolation.
However, this time, there was a facility and a physical instructor to assist him in doing so.
After getting dismissed, Brandon changed into cleaner clothes, and stepped out the training hall.
There, on the corner, was a girl waiting for him.
"Thanks for waiting."
"Mhm."
It was none other than Rachel.
